What is Citizen Researcher?
Citizen Researcher engages public participants in NYUAD research across the disciplines of science, social science, engineering, arts, and humanities.
Citizen Researcher was inspired by the global movement of Citizen Science. Driven by the mutual benefit that can exist when professional researchers and members of the public work alongside one another, we developed Citizen Researcher so that members of the public can take part in NYUAD research. With Citizen Researcher, members of the public can gain new research skills from their participation, and research studies reach their goals at a much faster rate thanks to participant contribution.
What is the aim of Citizen Researcher?
The aim of Citizen Researcher is to remove the misconception that research can only be done by professionals, in a professional setting.
To give those with a passion for research and discovery the opportunity to take part in NYUAD research and to make an impact on their local and global communities.
To empower the public to take part in NYUAD research by creating a clear participation process that is inclusive to a wide range of ages and backgrounds.
To engage them actively in the research process and teach them new research skills and techiniques.
Citizen Researcher helps research teams, usually constrained by limited resources, see an acceleration to their research thanks to the contribution and involvement of public participants
Public participants (Citizen Researchers) who take part in a research project help the research team find solutions to critical questions and problems at a much faster rate
To get research data and analyse it with the help of citizen researchers.
